My Thoughts about Social Media
Social Media is no longer unknown and untested. It is a part of our everyday lives and should be an integral part of every business. Social networks like Facebook or Twitter are still changing and the tools and gadgets will always be evolving. But what remains true is this: people want to CONNECT. We live in a global society, with 24/7 news streams, where it seems everyone is separated by six degrees. And through it all, we are all still people – people who are influenced and affected by other people. Individuals whose ideas, thoughts have an effect on other individuals and so on.
On a personal level, I love how the tools of social media have kept me connected to my friends and family scattered around the world. From the early days of ICQ and Friendster, my parents overseas have seen my kids grow up, my classmate from grade school has kept in touch and so on. You get the picture. The tools may and will change but people are people, we want to be plugged in, we NEED to stay connected.
For businesses, I believe Social Media should be a part of one’s MARKETING program. I can help you establish a presence online, find new contacts and create connections as well as nurture old or existing relationships using social media tools. I give you fresh ideas and fresh perspectives. I can help provide the knowledge, tools and time that can translate your online marketing efforts into real world results.
I can help you set up your social network profiles easily enough and you could even get a program to get lots of followers but I believe in QUALITY and not QUANTITY. I believe social media is about finding, creating and nurturing RELATIONSHIPS. It is about LISTENING and ENGAGING. It is about CONNECTING.
